the pyramid project is an installation created as a temporary structure in death valley california. it is 20ft x20ftx20ft and has no opening and no habitat related function.

the piece is a sculpture of space. It is a massive piece and when the viewer is close the structure becomes the positive space carved out of the environment. as the viewer walks away from the object the scale changes and it becomes a negative space and the environment becomes a volume with a hole in it. this gives the viewer a sense of the grandness and scale of the world we live in.

i collaborated on this project with designer, t.r. kilpelainen. mr kilpelainen is a partner at designarc in santa barbara, California.
